Veteran and Hawthorn RSL President Lucas Moon has called for a “COVID-safe, normal event” to be held at Melbourne’s ANZAC Day march this year, assuring that veterans will “follow the rules”.
The decision to cancel the march in Melbourne this year, which was made by Victoria RSL, was done over COVID-19 concerns.
Mr Moon said if elderly veterans “don’t feel comfortable,” then they wouldn’t have to attend the march.
However, he said, “not all our veterans are elderly old men, there’s a lot of younger men and women that have served this nation”.
“We want a COVID-safe march and we can abide by the rules and follow the rules,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“I think it’s just disappointing to us”.
