Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says there’s got to be a lot of work that will need to be done to restore confidence back in Victoria Police going forward.
“It is very important,” Mr Southwick told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Mr Southwick said community safety must be a real priority in Victoria.
“We need a reset in terms of particularly around community policing and bringing back that cooperative nature in dealing with the community at very much the frontline level”.
He also said in the state now, “certainly things are feeling better,” following months of hard lockdowns.
However he did note, “the city is still empty”.
“People haven’t returned to work and a lot of businesses are still really struggling.
“And we’re told a lot of people won’t return to their offices until the new year.”
