The challenges Australia has faced regarding the vaccine rollout has been a “supply program” as three million doses from Europe “never came,” according to Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Mr Morrison spruiked the growing speed of the vaccine rollout pointing to the 79,000 vaccinations in one day just before the Easter weekend.
“At this stage of our rollout, it is actually better than where Germany was, better than where New Zealand was, better than where South Korea and Japan was,” he said.
The prime minister also said the government is looking to expand on the already 1500 GPs in the rollout network by the end of the week.
“What this means is that we are getting more points of distribution closer to people in their communities,” he said.
“The challenges Australia have had has been a supply problem. It is pure and simple. There was over three million doses from overseas that were that never came.
“That’s obviously resulted in an inability to get three million doses out and distributed through the network.”
