News Corp’s Finance Writer Sophie Elsworth says the single COVID-19 case which was detected in Melbourne was enough to send Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews into “absolute panic mode”.
Her comments come after Premier Andrews announced on Wednesday the reinstatement of restrictions for all Victorians following a positive COVID-19 test result from an Australian Open hotel quarantine worker.
“We had that one case that came out of the tennis quarantine hotels,” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“He (Andrews) has paused the return of workers back into workplaces at 75 per cent from Monday which was due to be for public and private sector workers.
“So right now, in Melbourne, only 50 per cent of the workforce in private sector and 25 per cent of public sector workers are back.”
