Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says priorities are “all out of whack” amid news firefighters in Western Australia are being forced to limit numbers to ensure COVID safety while they battle a life-threatening blaze.
It comes after the DFES Deputy Commissioner Craig Waters confirmed there are a number of restrictions for firefighters in vehicles including the wearing of face masks and limiting the number of people in vehicles in order to maintain social distancing.
Meanwhile the out of control fire has devastated nearly 80 per cent of all properties at Tilden Park, with investigators currently looking into whether any lives have been lost.
“That is absolutely astounding,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“Obviously this fire is risking property at least, possibly peoples’ lives.
“Our priorities are just all out of whack here, this is crazy.”
