Sky News host Chris Kenny says there are plenty of people in and outside of NSW parliament who want to go down the “dangerous path” of decriminalizing drugs.
It comes amid news the New South Wales Cabinet considered a proposal to reduce the consequences for people caught in possession of illicit substances.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian has since stated her government “will not be decriminalizing drugs in New South Wales, and I can’t be clearer than that”.
“Reportedly this idea had a lot of support in Cabinet apparently cause it might free up the courts,” Mr Kenny said.
“Really? If you want to free up the courts you could decriminalize housebreaking too, or car stealing; it’s a pretty silly logic to exercise.
“Be careful, there are plenty of people inside parliament and outside of it who want to go down this dangerous path. I’d like to know what drugs they’re on.”
