Infectious diseases expert Dr Clay Golledge says the five day lockdown of Western Australia is “a bit of a show” as lives were put on hold with only one case of COVID-19.
“This is classic politics of fear, subjugate the masses, put on a bit of a show, say we’re going to do this, allow the contact tracers to get out and identify the primary and secondary contacts,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Dr Golledge said the lockdown meant WA Premier Mark McGowan “didn’t have a lot of faith in his contact tracers” and between Queensland and WA there have been extensive tests and lockdowns with little to show.
“Between Queensland and Western Australia we’ve done about 200,000 tests over the last few weeks for one case of wife to husband transmission.”
