Health Minister Greg Hunt says the TGA approved Pfizer vaccine is safe, effective and will be available for all Australians.
On Monday Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the long-awaited Therapeutic Goods Administration approval of the Pfizer vaccine for Australians over the age of 16, exactly one year since the first case of the virus was recorded in the country at the beginning of 2020.
“We have I think the best medical regulator in the world,” Mr Hunt told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
He said the TGA has “carried out a full and thorough process – it’s not been what’s called an emergency approval.
“It’s an approval which has ticked all the boxes, done all the steps, but had the most rigorous medical assessment that could be done.
“And that means it’s safe, it’s effective and it’s now going to be available for all Australians,” Mr Hunt said.
