Shadow Health Minister glad to see PM ‘shift position’ on vaccine rollout

Shadow Health Minister Mark Butler says it would be a “real pity” if the federal government’s initiative to get the vaccine rollout up and running again is merely a “political management strategy”.

National Cabinet is set to meet twice a week from Monday April 19 to discuss “serious challenges” facing the nation’s vaccine rollout.

“One of the things I have been saying is that the first thing you need to do is admit you’ve got a problem and I’m glad the prime minister has finally admitted that he has a problem.” Mr Butler told Sky News.

“He’s also apparently picked up a couple of things that I and many others have been saying, which is we are going to need more state government involvement in this.

“I’m glad to see that he’s shifted position here.”

The Shadow Health Minister did however note it would be a “real pity” if the shift hadn’t come from a “genuine desire to get this thing up and running again”.
