Brisbane has been named the preferred host city for the 2032 Summer Olympics by the International Olympic Committee.
What does that mean? Well, without any other serious competition, it’s all but certain that the Olympics will return to Australia 32 years after they were last held in Sydney in 2000.
Back then, basketballer Andrew Gaze was the flag-bearer at the opening ceremony, and 6-time Paralympian Danni Di Toro won silver in the wheelchair tennis.
Both of them say there’s nothing like competing in front of a home crowd.
