North Queensland hit by flash flooding

Queensland’s major highway has been severed in both directions as flooding impacts communities north of Townsville.

Communities remain on high alert as more rain is expected in the coming days.

Ex-tropical cyclone Imogen delivered dangerous flooding which threatened properties along the banks of the Herbert River.

Meteorologists have said rain will continue along north-east Queensland this week, with the flood threat shifting to the coastline of central Queensland and the Whitsundays.
