Sky News host Chris Kenny says getting rid of US President Donald Trump will not be a gift, especially for half of the country who voted for him, but it will end weeks of uncertainty, and that’s what the country needs.

The crucial states of Michigan and Georgia were declared for President-elect Joe Biden, flipping from Trump leads, which virtually guaranteed the result for the former vice president.

Following instructions from President Trump, Emily Murphy of the General Services Administration in Washington gave the green light for the Biden team to begin preparations for a transition to power, allowing access to government resources and finance.

“Donald Trump tweeted that Murphy had been steadfast, dedicated, and loyal to her country, and had been unfairly harassed, threatened, and abused while she was delaying,” he said.

“And while Trump vowed to continue his legal fights over voter fraud, claiming he’d still prevail, he announced he was recommending that Emily Murphy and her team do what they need to do with regard to initial protocols, and he’s told his team to do the same.

“Now, this is not a concession, but this is the first step towards that losers consent that I said, yesterday, might be a good Thanksgiving present to the nation this week.

“Not that getting rid of Trump is a gift. For half the country, it will be a disappointment, but the ending of uncertainty might be the gift the nation needs”.

Mr Kenny also spoke to Sky News Political Report Annelise Nielsen about the political and social climate in the US following the presidential election.
