Morrison called Australian soldiers ‘guilty before they entered a court of law’

Sky News host Alan Jones says the prime minister’s performance and that of his generals has been “disgraceful” because they called men who served Australia “guilty before they got up the steps of a court of law”.

It comes after Major General Paul Brereton’s report detailed evidence of 23 incidents allegedly committed by Australian soldiers – including the alleged killing of 39 Afghan civilians.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison commented on the report saying it exposed “brutal truths”.

“So China comes in and says we were slitting the throats of Afghan children; a lie.

“But no bigger lie than saying the Brereton report, which the Prime Minister hadn’t read, was about ‘brutal truths’.”
