Tourism and Transport Forum CEO Margy Osmond says the whole world is watching how the travel bubble will work between Australia and New Zealand.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern recently announced a quarantine-free travel between Australia and New Zealand should return by the end of March 2021 provided the COVID-19 situation in both countries remains as it is currently.

“I think on both sides of the ditch we’re pretty much prepared for this,” Ms Osmond told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“Governments on both sides have been working with industry for six months to have a contingency in place to know what could and should happen,” she said.

Ms Osmond said the “other part of this puzzle is that it is about public confidence”.

“These are decisions that governments will have to make around health and public confidence.

“Clearly from the New Zealanders’ perspective, they feel the need to wait a little longer.”

Ms Osmond said the “bottom line is that at least we’ve got the certainty that something will be happening”.
