Sky News host Chris Kenny says it doesn’t take a long memory to see the double standards from US media and establishment elites about violent protests during the Trump administration and the riot in Washington earlier this month.

“Journalists were quick and eager to apportion blame directly to the outgoing President. Terrible stuff it was, and journalists and others were keen to use politically charged language,” he said.

“But hang on, you don’t need a long memory to recall similar protests and a very different media response.

“Remember four years ago when President Trump was inaugurated?”

Mr Kenny said violent protests committed by the left were never tied to insurrection and were not linked to the politicians who called for resistance.

“And what about all of the protests last year by Black Lives Matter, Antifa and other anti-Trump groups? They wreaked havoc, including fires and vandalism. They took lives,” he said.

“As the Daily Telegraph’s opinion editor and Sky host James Morrow tweeted tongue in cheek; ‘Did anything happen in 2020 to give people the idea that clashing violently with authority was the path to power?'”
