Mark Latham says the planning document outlining the Aerotropolis planned for Western Sydney is “the very worst kind of Aboriginal virtue signalling” as it claims to connect Indigenous people to the land which will be destroyed by the construction.
“They try to say they’re connecting to country, they’re wiping out all the country, and missing the real opportunity that could lift Indigenous people out of disadvantage,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
Mr Latham said the construction of the large airport will destroy all the natural land with the various estates and massive tarmac, and instead of having a program for Indigenous people, they believe the intention will count.
“You’ve got this massive exercise in symbolism, gesture politics, seeming to do something (and) that makes it laughable.”
