Lord Mayor of Perth Basil Zempilas says Western Australians understandably find it “very very difficult” to disagree with Premier Mark McGowan given they have lived an almost unchanged lifestyle for ten months.
It comes as residents of three areas including metropolitan Perth remain under a five-day lockdown following the detection of a positive COVID-19 case.
“There’s no doubt there’s a lot of people in Western Australia who think that the measures have been excessive given the evidence that we have before us,” Mr Zempilas told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“However, the vast majority of West Australians, having led The Life of Riley over the last ten months, continued on their lives exactly as they were in 2019.
“They find it very very difficult to disagree with our premier, and you can understand why.”
