Week-long lockdown imposed in Delhi as India battles second wave of COVID-19

India is struggling with a far more virulent second wave of coronavirus with a week-long lockdown imposed in the capital of Delhi to prevent the collapse of the country’s health system.

A surge in infections has seen the country record over 200,000 new cases each day for almost a week.

The fear of a national and prolonged lockdown has caused thousands of migrant workers to rush to railway and bus stations to return home.
