Sky News host Paul Murray says for those who are guaranteed a job because they are a part of the public service, “it doesn’t matter” whether societies are shut down because “you still keep your job”.
His comments come after Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton told a parliamentary inquiry in Victoria that the state’s contact tracing system was good, there were simply too many who needed it.
“Contact tracing was one of the things that got out of control in Victoria, yet he (Brett Sutton) says contact tracing was amazing, there were just too many people who needed it,” Mr Murray said.
“That would be, literally, the definition of failure, yet for Bambi (Mr Sutton), it’s success.
“When you have a system of a state that is about to become the most popular state … you have to have a system that is capable of dealing with hundreds of cases, but still, they didn’t do the work because they thought the press conferences were enough.”
