Victoria is refusing to rule out closing to Greater Sydney ahead of Christmas as travellers from the Northern Beaches are already barred from crossing the border.
NSW recorded 23 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with seven reported in overseas travellers.
Visitors from regional New South Wales are still being welcomed, but anyone living in Sydney has been asked to reconsider their need to travel south.
Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley has said the state “will not hesitate” to take any recommended health measures.
