The United States has reported nearly 4,000 COVID-19 fatalities in 24 hours, surpassing the country’s own previous record.

The nation’s total death toll from the virus has now surpassed 356,000.

The country also recorded more than 250,000 new cases on Tuesday.

As case numbers spike across the country, many health workers are refusing to receive the COVID vaccine.

Ohio and Californian authorities say up to 60 per cent of nursing home staff in the states have declined the jab.
