Sky News host Paul Murray says there is a Queensland council of “Grinches” who have cancelled a family favourite Christmas lighting display which normally runs each year.
He said the display is put on by a family, who raise some money for charity, but “God forbid, they just do it for fun”.
“We learned today that the local council in Queensland has declared ‘no more’,” he said.
He said it wasn’t cancelled because of coronavirus but apparently, “they did not have the right permits”.
“Now remember so much has been lost, so much has been waived, so much has been forgiven, so much did not apply in 2020 – we could think that the permit system for how many people were allowed to come to your house to have a look at the bling bling you’ve got in the lead-up to Christmas … council of Grinches”.
