Amid all the “virus hysteria” there have actually been “two bits” of rare good news to emerge, says Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“First, for all this virus hysteria, the end of the world feeling, guess what, we’re actually less likely to die now than we were in the five years just gone”.
“It’s unbelievable,” Mr Bolt said.
Mr Bolt looked at data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
“Above average deaths very early with the virus, but since then, below average”.
“You’re actually safer than ever. Not that it feels that way”.
Mr Bolt said the “second bit” of good news were recent comments made by Reserve Bank Governor Philip Lowe.
Mr Lowe said the “economic downturn was not as deep as we initially feared and the bounce back has been earlier and stronger than we’re expecting”.
Mr Bolt spoke to Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood to discuss the nation’s current situation.
