A new poll has revealed support for Australia becoming a republic is sliding, with only 34 per cent of respondents being in favour of the move.
The latest Ipsos poll found 40 per cent of respondents said Australia shouldn’t become a republic.
While 26 per cent of respondents said they didn’t know what move Australia should take.
Only 26 per cent of Australians aged 18-24 were in favour of the nation becoming a republic.
Sky News host Peta Credlin said they are “pretty bad numbers for the republican movement”.
“They would be surprised, I suspect, about the view, or lack of enthusiasm, from young people,” Ms Credlin said.
