Sky News host Peta Credlin says Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles “is a joker” amid his recent “embarrassing” actions.
It comes as the Queensland government has refused to pay New South Wales the cost of hotel quarantine for thousands of returned travellers.
A bill of $30 million had been accrued as a result of quarantining returned Queensland residents in New South Wales.
Mr Miles subsequently uploaded a video to his Facebook page of himself tearing up the bill.
“I think it’s embarrassing,” Ms Credlin said.
Discussing the issue, fellow Sky News host Chris Smith said the act was “not only embarrassing” but also a “poke in the eye to, not just the New South Wales government, but to everyone in New South Wales, the population, who are prepared to take the risks to take the majority of quarantine cases”.
“And there was already a rule in this – the rule was that you will pay back New South Wales for the fact that they did most of the heavy carrying,” Mr Smith said.
“And New South Wales did the heavy carrying,” he said.
