South Africa has postponed the rollout of the vaccine after one study showed it offered only minimal protection against the so-called South African variant.
In Australia, the Pfizer jab will roll out soon for priority groups, including healthcare workers.
Everybody else is expected to be offered the AstraZeneca vaccine.
