Former Margaret Thatcher Aide Nile Gardiner says there are “quite a few flaws” with the depiction of Margaret Thatcher in Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ as the show has a distinct “left-wing political bet”.
The series has just released its fourth season, and it is one of Netflix’s most popular TV series ever.
In the fourth season, an array of new characters are introduced including Margaret Thatcher, who is played by American actress Gillian Anderson.
“I have to say that Gillian Anderson does, actually overall, a very good job,” Mr Gardiner told Sky News.
“The Crown does pretty well overall,” he said.
However, Mr Gardiner said there were “quite a few flaws” with the depiction of Ms Thatcher.
“There is a distinct sort of left-wing political bet to the show as well, in terms of its interpretation of Thatcherism and its impact on Britain,” he said.
“I think it’s very much a sort of mixed approach from the makers of The Crown.”
