Queensland Opposition Leader David Crisafulli says his leadership and the future of the LNP will “live or die” on whether he reforms the party.
An article in the Courier Mail exposed the internal machinations of the LNP in Queensland which included administrative bullying of MPs which drove some out of politics.
Sky News host Alan Jones said the whole debacle could be summed up in one word – “failure” – and the article provided Mr Crisafulli with the “ammunition he needs to drain the swamp”.
“David Crisafulli has to understand one thing – he will never be as powerful in the LNP of Queensland as he is today,” he said.
“He has to demand an administrative cleanout, the lot. And the longer he goes without doing it, the more his power is diminished”.
Mr Crisafulli told Sky News everything he does is about “getting my mob fit for government”.
“I joined (the LNP) many years ago, do you know how many days I’ve been a member of a faction? Zero, zip, zilch; I never have been and I never will be and as a result I owe my existence to nobody,” he said.
“If we get our house in order, if we stop this internal machinations and cannibalising each other, we’re going to get fit for office and when we do I intend to deliver generational government for Queensland.”
