NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham says the renewable energy bill which recently passed through the state government has “hallmarks of crony capitalism” all over it.
“Matt Kean’s against coal, Matt Kean’s against gas, he just wants 100 per cent renewable,” Mr Latham said.
“And of course, it’s a very risky plan because when the sun’s not shining, the wind’s not blowing, you need pumped-hydro and battery storage, his plans in that area are very rudimentary, it’s one level embarrassing.
“The bill had embedded in it a new electricity tax in New South Wales because it’s open now for the government to levy from electricity distributors money to pay for the renewables, and that levy on the distributors goes straight into the consumer electricity bill, so prices will be going up.”
