Sky News contributor Graham Richardson says the opening of Queensland’s hard border to New South Wales is “probably a bit overdue”.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced her state will be completely open to all New South Wales residents from December 1, after Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young said she was satisfied with the case numbers in Sydney.
Prior to this the Greater Sydney region was not able to enter the Sunshine State.
“Annastacia is a mate of mine, but this has been a little overplayed,” Mr Richardson said.
He added, the decision to keep the hard border in place for so long was quite popular amongst Queenslanders.
“As far as they’re concerned in Queensland, she’s been keeping those diseased southerners out of the way and they like that idea,” he said.
