Sky News host Peter Gleeson says Labor is a million to one at the next election as long as they continue to present different parts of the country conflicting messages about their policies.
“While ever Labor goes into the next election with Anthony Albanese saying one thing in St Kilda and another thing in Gladstone, they are a million to one,” he said.
Australian Council of Trade Unions Secretary Sally McManus warned Labor against lowering its ambitions on climate change, declaring Joel Fitzgibbon’s focus on workers “old fashioned”.
“She’s playing into the hands of the Liberal Party and the Coalition,” Mr Gleeson said.
“For Sally McManus, the head of the Union Movement – I can tell you now there’d be coal workers around Clermont, Moranbah, and Mackay looking at that tonight and thinking, gee, do we really need to be in the union movement? These guys are abandoning us.
“I thought McManus was a sharper operator than that. This is madness to abandon your workers at a time when there’s such enormous energy debate going on in this country.”
