It is ‘key now’ for renewed interest in country Australia to become a ‘golden age’

Regional Education Minister Andrew Gee says the coronavirus pandemic has been a “real game changer”, and the key now is to make sure the renewed interest in country Australia lasts and turns into a “golden age of decentralisation”.

It comes as the Federal Government’s decentralisation program – aimed at reviving the regions – has seen many Australians opt to move to smaller country towns at a cheaper prices.

“The real estate markets in many regional areas now are booming,” Mr Gee told Sky News host Peter Gleeson.

“The trick now is to make sure that we turn this into a golden age of decentralisation.”
