It is ‘clear’ government has ‘suspicions’ about ABC’s alleged use of private investigators

It is very clear the government “has suspicions” regarding the ABC’s alleged use of private investigators prior to its Four Corners program based on what government sources are saying privately, according to The Australian’s Paul Kelly.

It comes after Attorney General Christian Porter was asked on 6PR about whether he thought private investigators were following him prior to Four Corners reporting on his love life.

Mr Kelly told Sky News host Peta Credlin the ABC “has denied” using private investigators “or they’ve issued a form of denial”.

“But it’s very clear from what the government is saying privately about this, that the government has suspicions on this issue,” he said.

“I think the Morrison government is determined to pursue the matter and find out exactly what happened.

“Mistakes involved for the ABC could be pretty significant here.”
