Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg says Clover Moore and the City of Sydney Council are putting the “iconic” Moore Park Golf Course at risk “by wanting to cut it in half”.
Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg, alongside Liberal MP Dave Sharma, have been campaigning to save the golf course.
The course, situated near Sydney’s CBD, is an 18 hole, championship course established in 1926.
However, under plans by the City of Sydney Council, a proposal has been made to reduce the course to only nine-holes to create more parkland for public use.
Mr Bragg said the coronavirus pandemic “has shown how important it is that people stay fit and healthy”.
“Golf is a great thing to do, this is a public course servicing the biggest city in Australia.
“Myself and Dave Sharma are going to do all we can to try and keep this course here for the people of Sydney,” Mr Bragg told Sky News on Monday.
“If it went back to nine-holes, it really wouldn’t be viable”.
