Cases are growing at the fastest rate in South-East Asia with the country recording almost 8,000 yesterday, and more than 7,000 the day before.
It’s now the second worst-hit nation in the region after Indonesia.
The Philippines has started vaccinating its population of over 100 million people, but only has enough doses for one per cent of them.
Experts say it’s a bleak reminder of the dangers poorer countries face.
