David Prowse: Darth Vader actor and Green Cross Man dies aged 85

Actor David Prowse, the man who donned the iconic Darth Vader suit in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died at the age of 85 following a short illness.

Prior to landing his famous Star Wars role, the Bristolian actor was a familiar face on UK television as the first Green Cross Code Man.

Tributes have poured in following his death, with fellow Star Wars actor Mark Hamill tweeting: “So sad to hear David Prowse has passed. He was a kind man & much more than Darth Vader.”
