Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews wants to “leave the broken economy” to Prime Minister Scott Morrison and obviously doesn’t believe it’s important to save jobs or small businesses, according to Sky News host Chris Smith.
His comment comes after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday further eased restrictions in the state but wouldn’t allow private workplaces to bring back more than 50 per cent of their workforce until January 11.
“At a time when the government needs to do all it can, to rebuild that smashed and fragile economy, why would you keep people at home,” Mr Smith said.
“What about saving the economy and rescuing the heartbroken 200,000 Victorians who lost their jobs, thousands of businesses who lost their livelihoods?”
The premier has further announced only 25 per cent of Victorian public servants will be able to return to the office on January 11, while 50 per cent can return on the 8th of February.
“Why does it take public servants an additional month to get back to work?” Mr Smith said.
“Is it, an admission that they don’t like working, or the empty buildings have more COVID in them, than private venues?”
Mr Smith said “sadly,” the state premiers have held all the power this year and have acted in “a parochial and selfish fashion”.
“Those who haven’t been hurt by those decisions, won’t understand this; but those who have, will not be able to forget what they’ve lost,” he said.
