Australia’s relationship with China has arguably never been more tense as the Chinese government remains unrepentant for the controversial soldier tweet and routinely breaches international laws, says Sky News host Brent O’Halloran.
It comes amid escalating diplomatic tensions between Canberra and Beijing, which most recently saw a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman tweet a fabricated photo of an Australian solider holding a bloody knife to the throat of an Afghani child.
“We are in quite a blue,” Mr O’Halloran said.
“There are things the Australian government can do to help repair this relationship, but what about from the Chinese side?
“The Chinese government is unrepentant for the controversial soldier tweet, and China still routinely breaches international laws and human rights norms.”
