White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki shifted into recovery mode trying to distance President Joe Biden from the Major League Baseball decision to pull the All-Star game from Atlanta in response to a new law in Georgia.
Last week President Biden was asked on ESPN what he thought about the possibility baseball decides to move its All-Star game from Atlanta because of Georgia’s law.
“I think today’s professional athletes are acting incredibly responsibly,” President Biden said.
“I would strongly support them doing that.”
Ms Psaki, trying to explain President Biden’s remarks, said he was “not dictating” what baseball should do.
“He was not dictating for what Major League Baseball should do, that they should – dictating they should move the All-Star game,” Ms Psaki said.
“That was their decision, they made that decision, and as he stated earlier, he certainly supports that.
“He supports them being able to make the decision.”
