Benefits of AstraZeneca vaccine still ‘outweigh risk’ for people over 50

Infectious Disease Expert Professor Peter Collignon says the benefits outweigh the risks of the AstraZeneca vaccine, especially among people over the age of 50.

“Australia has been so successful, there’s not been any spread… it means your risk of dying from getting COVID-19 is so small, the remote risk of a vaccine outweighs the benefit,” he said.

“I think there is a lot of hysteria about this because the only people it affects are front-line works who are 40 or 50, but I would think they would have enough Pfizer vaccine.”
