Sky News host Catherine McGregor says Australian conservatives “need to be very discerning” about the lessons we draw from the rise and fall of Donald Trump.
“Trump was a disruptive figure and it was needed, he was the product of a lot of dysfunction in the US body of politics, many ordinary Americans felt their jobs were being sent overseas, they felt like no one in government was listening to them,” she said.
Ms McGregor said she did not want to see “the conservative brand tarnished” over Washington DC riot.
“Respect for the law, respect for our constitution, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and a genuine belief that all Australians share more in common than divides them.”
