Andrew Laming: ADHD diagnosis a ‘surprise’

Federal MP Andrew Laming has revealed he has been diagnosed with ADHD after the prime minister forced him to apologise for allegedly harassing women online, and made him undertake empathy training.

“It came as a complete surprise to me, it’s been my singular focus for the last 30 days or so, it was a chance discovery just a friend who suggested that I get an appointment and see a friend of his,” he told Sky News.

Dr Laming said he was “very relieved” by the diagnosis and said he had no idea it was something which afflicted adults as well.

“I never knew one per cent of Australians live with it into adulthood so it persists in around a third of those that have it as children.”
