Sky News host Chris Kenny has asked when Australian media, politicians and health authorities will stop creating excessive alarm as he accused Dr Norman Swan of consistently making alarmist and often false claims.
“On the pandemic, there was good news for NSW residents this week. This has happened because NSW has gone more than 10 days with zero community transmission cases, successfully dealing with the Northern Beaches cluster,” he said.
“But some media experts warned this couldn’t be done. Swan has been trying to tell governments what to do for a year now, and the ABC has encouraged and promoted him.
“Trouble is, he’s been consistently wrong.”
Mr Kenny revealed Dr Swan had predicted COVID-19 case numbers would hit up to 80,000 cases back in March last year.
“And two days later more alarm and misinformation. Thankfully, he was wrong again,” he said.
“But when will we stop creating alarm, and when will he stop urging drastic lockdowns and unnecessary hardship?”
