Sky News host Alan Jones says the Western Australian lockdown is a disgrace as there is “no epidemiological justification” for lockdowns.
Three regions in Western Australia’s south west, including Perth, have been placed into a five day full lockdown as of Sunday night after a hotel quarantine worker contracted what is believed to be the UK strain of COVID-19.
The man has also been reported to have worked another job as an Uber driver, sparking fears the virus has spread throughout the country’s fourth largest city.
Mr Jones said it has “disturbed” him how the federal government did not “take a stand” on measures such as lockdowns and border closures, and because it failed to do so, it has allowed state governments to run rampant.
“There seems to be no national leadership on this,” he said.
“There is no epidemiological justification for lockdowns and the Western Australia thing is a disgrace.”
