One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has responded to Chinese propaganda mouthpiece – The Global Times – which labelled her as “arrogant” after she called for a boycott on Chinese products.

Ms Hanson on Monday called on Australians to boycott Chinese products and opt for Australian-made items after a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson posted a doctored photo depicting an Australian soldier holding a knife to a child’s neck.

The Global Times labelled the calls as “arrogant”, saying “She (Hanson) and he ilk behave not even like a paper tiger, but a hysterical paper cat”.

The editorial went on to say, “We would like to tell Australian politicians like Hanson that they have overestimated Australia’s importance toward China”.

“We do despise extreme politicians like Hanson. They seem to be living in a century ago and do not have a clue of the contemporary era”.

Ms Hanson said the comments are “like water off a duck’s back”.

“I’ve got to say, if I actually am on the radar, then they’re listening to what I have to say,” she said.

“So my message is getting out, even all the way to China; I’ve had a win here.”
