Sky News host Rita Panahi says the Liberal Party need to figure out what they stand for on the critical issue of energy as state governments are “going rogue” on the issue.

It comes as New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian pushes a significant renewable energy plan – announced in the state’s budget – attracting private investment of $32 billion by 2030 and creating 9000 jobs in regional areas.

“The Liberals have got a problem, they need to do something about it and figure out who they are and what they stand for,” Ms Panahi told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“And on the critical issue of energy, where they are; whether they’re about cutting emissions or is their priority a cheap reliable energy – which is what they took to the last federal election and that’s what got them over the line.

“We were told that was the climate change election, that was going to be a referendum on climate change and energy policy.
“We got a verdict, but then we’ve got these state governments who are going rogue.”
